Offshore Subsurface Investigation for Proposed Port Expansion, St. Vincent – Geotechnical Drilling & Testing (Main Contractor: AECON, Sub-Contractor: Intrepid Civil & Marine Grenada Ltd.) July – August 2022

Eight marine boreholes were advanced to a depth of approx. 30 to 45 meters below mudline (sea floor bed). These test boreholes were drilled from a jack up barge, and  two additional marine boreholes, advanced to a depth of 6 to  12 meters below mudline to investigate a sewer outflow line. These borings were advanced using mud rotary drilling equipment through the overburden soils in water on average depth of 15m (50 ft.) and total depth of 33-64m (110 to 210 ft.

SOL Caribbean Ltd.. – Phase II Environmental Site Assessments of Fuel Terminals. April – October 2021

Undertook a number of Phase I and II environmental site assessment studies for 13 fuel storage terminal sites across 4 Eastern Caribbean countries, including, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, and St. Vincent & Grenadine islands, Bequia, Canouan, and Mustique. The project included supervision of drilling of boreholes and the installation of monitoring wells, and carried out associated soil and water testing, in association with WSP – Golder & Associates & KKS CONSULTING.

Geotechnical Investigation & Ground Improvement Grouting Supervision for (2) two X 250 K Gal Barbados Water Authority Reservoir Tanks (Ionics Freshwater) – July 2021

Performed compaction grouting design using geotechnical investigation data, including estimates of in-situ void ratios and relative densities, fines content, target SPT N-values and relative densities (after compaction grouting) to fill any voids and compacted weak zones, required replacement ratio, volume of grout, layout of drill holes, mix design, maximum heave allowance, required monitoring equipment for heave and lateral displacement and methods, and general compaction grouting methods.

Performed inspections, and a record of drilling of injection points, drill rates, material types, rock depth (as encountered), total casing penetration depth, and similar. Recorded measurements of grout quantities, injection rate, injection pressure, grout consistency, grout strength, and similar data.

Preliminary Geotechnical Investigations – Drilling No. Eight (8) Boreholes (BHs) to Approx. 40 ft. Depth (320 linear ft. per site) & No. Three Pressure meter (PMT) tests per site. Micro pile Anchor Installation, involving Angular Drilling of approx. 60 Boreholes for Tension Bar Installation for Wind Turbines, 15 Boreholes Per Turbine.

Carried out geotechnical field testing based upon a review of the “Scientific Study of the Failure of the Road at White Hill” report by AEC, of a slope failure which occurred in November 2014 along a section of the road cut into the side slope of a hill, at White Hill near Mt. Hillaby, in the Parish of St. Andrew, Barbados.

Geotechnical investigation which required drilling over forty (40) borings drilled within the proposed building limits, to determine the in-situ strength of the site soil/rock and the condition of the underlying rock and possible existence of caves or fissures within the rock, determination of stratigraphy, detection of any cavities/sinkholes, and bearing capacity.

Project management and supervision of the installation of four (4) STP Soil Borings and testing to approx. 75 feet deep, and cement grouting of 12 boreholes.

Project management and supervision of a number of geotechnical boreholes were carried out, and monitoring wells installed to the specification of the project’s professional geologist. November, 2011

As a follow on study to previous exploration methods carried out by Subsurface in March and August 2009, and Geophysical survey carried out in March 2010 by Subsurface in conjunction with Michael Baker Jr. Inc.

Whereby, a number of standard penetration test (SPT) borings up to 60 to 70 feet through the overlying alluvial sediments were drilled to determine the classification of these sediments, and an electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) performed over the site.

Project management and supervision of the installation of two (2) abstraction wells 200-feet deep, and two (2) injection wells 200-feet deep at the above property, including pump testing of water production and discharge capacity to required engineer’s standards (Stantec Consulting).

Completion of a number of geotechnical test boreholes including split spoon STP sampling and NQ rock core samples, preparation of borehole logs, and carrying out percolation testing to relevant engineering standards.

Project management and supervision of Subsurface drilling of two borehole to 40 feet deep by air rotary method, to be located under the footprint of a proposed water tank located at a generation plant. In addition, driller’s log of boreholes were completed indicating any anomalies during this process and down hole video recording of borehole substratum.
